"Hey all,

I am a member of the American Red Cross at Cal Club and we are trying to raise awareness and donations for the Philippine Typhoon Relief Efforts.

The American Red Cross is providing support to the Philippine Red Cross due to Typhoon Haiyan that has affected 4.3 million people across 36 provinces. 1,200 evacuation centers shelter more than 330,000 people who are now homeless due to this massive storm that has already claimed over 10,000 lives. Philippine Red Cross relief teams are providing assistance to the hardest hit communities, including search and rescue efforts as well as food and relief supplies such as clean drinking water. However, the damage is extensive and continues to build.

The American Red Cross is also sending disaster relief specialists and equipment to assist in these relief efforts. In addition, they are restoring contact between families. Although communication is limited, the American Red Cross will send two telecommunication specialists and a satellite system. As of right now, Typhoon Haiyan is expected to hit Vietnam next and the Red Cross will continue to assist communities that have already been affected by earlier typhoons. We need your help to assist these people who have been affected by Typhoon Haiyan so please take the time to donate! Check your local Red Cross website for more information. Remember, any amount counts!

Thank you so much for your kindness,
