Hi ARC at Cal!

American Red Cross Bay Area and Cal Corps Public Service Center are recruiting 2 Bonner Leaders for the 2013 - 2014 School Year! The position will not be directly affiliated with the club. You will be working through the Bonner Leaders program and ARCBA for 10-12 hours a week for the school year of 2013-2014, earning units and receiving a stipend. "We are currently recruiting TWO Bonner Leaders for Red Cross disaster preparedness work in West Berkeley.
 
The Bonner Leaders will gain practical skills and experience in areas such a community organization; project management; volunteer management; education; and, emergency management and disaster preparedness planning. The Bonner Leaders will plan and implement projects such as community-wide training events and a cross-sector conference. Other roles will include: 
 
Outreach and Partnership building – Bonner Leaders will leverage existing relationships within the West Berkeley community as well as build new ones in order to engage organizations in the topic of emergency preparedness. Outreach is often grassroots such as impromptu visits to businesses and organizations as well as networking at community gatherings.
Training Program Implementation – Bonner Leaders will be responsible for coordinating training opportunities in West Berkeley. They will plan and coordinate logistics for training to ensure their success. For example, the Bonner Leader could connect with a school principal and arrange a school assembly opportunity for the Red Cross to train the student population. The Bonner Leader would coordinate the entire training while other Red Cross entities such as the Red Cross Club at Cal would teach.
Education - Bonner Leaders will be trained to teach CPR, elements of First Aid, and emergency preparedness curriculum.
Administrative functions – Bonner Leaders will input and track all community partners and training opportunities in our database system, Salesforce.
Volunteer Management – Bonner Leaders will interface with Red Cross volunteers, working side-by-side to deliver services. In most instances, the Bonner Leader will be the lead and will be responsible for coordinating other volunteers.
