Hi Blood Committee,

Just a quick reminder that our second committee meeting will be October 11th from 6-7pm at 2311 Tolman.

During our meeting we will be administering an orientation so you guys can be eligible to canteen!  You'll learn about general blood donor eligibility, fun blood facts, relevant blood drive info, and the important, "OH GOD THEY FAINTED, what do I DO?!!?"    Shocked

Okay that was a bit exaggerated but one of the most important things to get out of orientation is what to do if someone isn't feeling well or actually starts to faint.

To all returning members who have been previously oriented, if you forgot the secret phrase or feel that you might need a refresher, please stop by.  If you feel comfortable with your knowledge, then this meeting will be optional for you.

As for the rest of you, I'll see you there.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to post on this thread and I'll hopefully respond relatively quickly.

Good luck on your midterms if you have any this week!

Hi everyone,

I hope midterms went well for everyone and you all are now free of stress and can be happy again!  I know I am =]

Just a quick reminder that we will be having our orientation for canteening this Monday, October 11 from 6-7pm at 2311 Tolman.  If you want to be eligible to canteen and you haven't undergone an orientation previously, you must attend this orientation.  That being said, if you have been oriented before and feel like you forgot a lot of the info or might need a refresher, by all means your presence is welcome!

We understand that some of you are unable to make meetings on Mondays due to your schedule and so we'll be holding another orientation hopefully before this blood drive.  If you are this situation, please reply so we can figure out who needs to be oriented at a different time and so we can also plan a convenient time that works for both of us.

I hope all is well and I hope to see a lot of you on Monday!  Bring your enthusiasm and you're questions if you have any.

Best,
Jordan

Jordan-

Normally Monday meetings work fine for me, however this Monday I have a
study group meeting at the same time for a midterm I have on Tuesday so I
will not be able to attend.

Can't make this Monday! Every other Monday (from next week onwards) at this time would work, as would Wednesday nights!Sorry for the inconvenience!(Also, realizing that I still need to pay dues/submit a membership form for this semester... haven't been able to make any general meetings--any advice? >.<)

Hi Jordan!

Will the packet for the Orientation be sent out by email for those of us
that have already gone through training? Unfortunately I can't make it
tomorrow but would love to get the packet/handout anyways!

Thanks!

J.P.

J.P.,

We will only send out the packet for certain situations, so people don't
think that having the packet = being oriented. Yours sounds like one of
those situations, though, so I will send you the packet in an attachment.

Hello,

I wanted to go to this orientation; however, I have class around this time
and right afterward, I have to go to my midterm review section. Will there
be another orientation in the future? If I can't go to this orientation,
does it mean I'm not eligible to be in this committee anymore?

Sarah:  Good luck on your midterms.  Hopefully we can schedule an orientation later this week so you can be eligible to canteen.

Ami: I totally understand and hopefully you can make another date.

Anita: The meeting tomorrow is necessary if you want to be eligible to canteen though by no means does it mean you are no longer in the committee.  We welcome everyone to be a part of Blood Committee and not showing up Monday just means you won't be able to canteen until you are oriented though you can always table or help us out in other ways.  I'm planning to schedule another orientation later in this week for all of you who can't make it so hopefully that'll work.

Anita,

We will be holding another, smaller orientation before the October 21st
Blood Drive for those who miss this one. We'll set a time and date for
that after tomorrow's meeting. If someone does not complete the
orientation, then they are ineligible to canteen at the blood drive; they
can still be a volunteer in the committee!

Hi Jordan,     Sorry for the late response.  Could I be scheduled for the next orientation being held later?  Thank you!  Also I haven't been able to go to a committee meeting yet (sorry Mondays are tricky days).  How can I pay dues and turn in membership forms?
Thanks!Best,Charlene Fan

Hi Charlene,

I'm sorry you can make it on Mondays.  I wish I could make committee
meetings on a day that everyone can make it but room reservations were
really tough this year and we were lucky to get 2 rather than 1.  The
other one is for general meetings (Thursday).

I'll send you a signup for the possible available times later in the day
for another orientation date.  If you want to turn in dues and membership
forms, you can give it to any of the officers or show up to our general
meeting this Thursday where all of our officers will be including our
Volunteer Manager, Robin.  She would be the best person to give to.

Wish you all the best,
Jordan

Hello,

I, Tristan, and Althea will not make it today. Do we have to sign up to be
part of the smaller orientation?
