The disastrous events in Japan have left many of us in awe at the
destruction Nature can render upon an entire nation. It has also served as
a reminder that natural disasters can strike anywhere, at any time. In
light of this, the American Red Cross at Cal finds it more important than
ever that Berkeley students take an active role in bracing themselves with
the knowledge and readiness to deal with a natural disaster, should one
occur locally.
We will be holding our last general meeting of the semester this Thursday,
during which a speaker from the Red Cross Oakland Chapter will speak to
students about
Red Cross Disaster Services. You will also find out about
upcoming ARC @ Cal Disaster Readiness events and preparedness training.
Furthermore, if you are interested in health and safety, blood donations,
youth first aid training, and international humanitarian work, you will
find these opportunities and more at the meeting.
