*SATURDAY 3/1- Volunteer for the Berkeley Project with ARC@Cal-SIGN-UP DEADLINE 2/21
For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Berkeley Project, here’s what they’re all about: “We desire to permanently change the relationship between the students and residents of Berkeley through hands-on community service.” Sign-up to volunteer at https://www.berkeleyproject.org/
In the Spring semester, BP month consists of 3 Saturdays devoted to community service! This year, ARC@Cal will be serving with other members of the campus community on March 1st, so mark your calendars and apply ASAP! Put American Red Cross at Cal as your student group, and Alison Zhong as your preferred site leader, and we should be all set to put our hands to work and make this city more beautiful together. Oh, and also get free stuff (and breakfast and lunch!) as rewards for our hard work.

*Saturday 3/15 - Dance Marathon with ARC@Cal
Bouncy houses, lazertag, DJs, performances, sumo suits, unlimited food, photobooths, caricature artists, Hoodie Allen and more??
Dance Marathon is going to held on SATURDAY, MARCH 15-16 from 12pm-12am! We're raising funds for pediatric AIDS and challenging dancers to stay on their feet for twelve hours straight!
Register NOW with the AMERICAN RED CROSS AT CAL team (Team captain: Madhuvanthi Suresh) for only $20! It will be super fun and you'll get to bond with your fellow ARC members while volunteering for a good cause!!!

*WEDNESDAY
3/5 Blood Services Committee Meeting, 136 Barrows @ 6-7 PM - Come hang out with the blood committee and get to know your fellow members. We’ll be going over upcoming events like the upcoming blood drive on March 18 (including opportunities for volunteering) as well as committee socials and get togethers!

*TUESDAY
3/18 March Blood Drive! Get excited and help us get the word out about the importance of blood donation and the upcoming blood drive! This is the most important step to having a successful blood drive, and we depend on our amazing volunteers!

2.Health and Safety

* SUNDAY 3/2, 3/3, 3/4 Training Citizen CPR at the Greeks - For those trained at our 2/13 committee meeting in hands-only CPR, come out into the community and teach this basic life-saving skill!  For those who wish to be trained, attend our next committee meeting, we will have a training after.

*SUNDAY 3/2, 3/3, 3/4 Training in Disaster Preparedness for the Greeks

Here’s more opportunities to use your training and get involved with the community! We’ll be going over training information at the committee meeting so please come to sign up for a BRCR slot with the Greeks!

*TUESDAY March 11th West Berkeley Preparedness Workshop, 4:30-7 PM, Location TBA
•We need THREE people to help with this event. Location TBA but you would be helping out with the event. You get to learn how to co-facilitate a public disaster prep program with American Red Cross and the City of Berkeley, teaching the public of West Berkeley. This is a super awesome opportunity to network. More information will be sent to those who sign up!!!

We need A LOT OF outreach volunteers next week on either THIS Thursday or Friday after 3:30 PM to go into West Berkeley and outreach for the program. You'll be out in the greater Berkeley community working with the American Red Cross to spread the news about this workshop.


4.Youth

*MONDAY 3/3 committee meeting 6-7PM in 136 Barrows
-Please come to get trained in Youth Preparedness Presentations and to work on our Eggster Booth!

*SATURDAY 4/19 Eggster
Come out to the next Youth meeting on March 3rd to help build our booth for Eggster!

5.Fundraising and Awareness

*TUESDAY 3/4: committee meeting 7:45 PM in 104 Dwinelle This is important so make sure to be there! We have a lot to cover!

Poverty and Homelessness Symposium: March 3rd - 7th : A week of speakers, workshops, & performances that address issues of poverty & structural inequity. Come out for FREE food on Monday & stay for all the great events throughout the week around poverty as it relates to disaster preparedness, economics, gender inequality, and MORE!
We will be tabling Monday 3/3 and Wednesday ⅗ as well as going to these events together!

-**TUESDAY 2/20- First Be Red Cross Ready Course of the semester!
It's that special monthly opportunity again! Come get prepared with us at the upcoming Be Red Cross Ready presentation by the American Red Cross @ Cal!
We will be teaching you the essentials for disaster preparedness, from making emergency plans to preparing disaster packs and supplies to basic earthquake and fire survival skills. This training is a greater refresher for disaster preparedness and an invaluable course for life saving skills! Bring your roommates, friends, and family to our FREE Be Red Cross Ready training! Our upcoming training will be Thursday, February 20th with the location to be announced. Free admission to the general public. See you there

Do you know what to put in a disaster kit? If not, this is an opportunity for you! Come get trained by Disaster Services at American Red Cross @ Cal in a FREE PUBLIC Disaster Preparedness Training. Spend one hour of class and come out with life saving skills!

Location: Dwinelle Steps (a coordinator/intern will be there to direct you!)
Bring your favorite games and have some fun!  Come out and bond with all of the amazing blood committee members and make some new friends. There will be snacks!

*THURSDAY 2/13 H&S Committee Meeting, 136 Barrows, 6-7 PM - Learn how to teach citizen (hands-only) CPR and get ready to prepare the community. We’re going to be teaching this skill to the fraternities and sororities NEXT WEEK! Gain one hour for just showing up!

*MONDAY 2/17 Training Citizen CPR at Sigma Phi Epsilon, 7 PM - For those trained at our 2/13 committee meeting in hands-only CPR, come out into the community and teach this basic life-saving skill!


3.Disaster
*FRIDAY 2/14 6-7PM Train the Trainer - Our first TTT course will be held this Friday, from 6-7PM. If you would like to help teach Be Red Cross Ready, you need to take this course!
