Hello everyone! For those of you that couldn't make it, you gotta catch up to everyone else's level in maneuvering the Evans rolly desks. ;)

Important Dates, Times, and Locations:

-Big C Hike, Sat. 10/5, meeting at 6 pm at Kroeber Plaza Fountain (across from Caffe Strada, College and Bancroft)

-ARC@CAL SECOND GENERAL MEETING, TUES. 10/8 7-8 PM 126 BARROWS

-Berkeley Project volunteer registration deadline, Fri. 10/11 (not sure what time it closes) https://www.berkeleyproject.org/

-Flyering begins for blood drive Thurs. 10/17

-Next committee meeting, Thurs. 10/17 8 pm in 47 Evans

-NEXT BLOOD DRIVE, THURS. 10/24 12-6 PM IN ALUMNI HOUSE

Recap:

Thank you to everyone that volunteered at our RECORD-BREAKING blood drive last week! Congratulations to Raymond Poon, who volunteered the most hours at the last blood drive and is now (hopefully) enjoying his goodie bag! Who will win the next prize, I wonder? If you want to check your hours from the blood drive (Thanks, Madhu, for updating!), here's the link to member hours: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Akhc9NHKzxx9dGZUSm5WNjVzbTNzTnZyeG1zZm1XZ2c#gid=0

We're going to the Big C! Join us to watch the sunset over this special city of ours. Maybe we'll grab food/boba after too! Bring comfortable shoes. It's a short hike, but I don't want to see anyone in heels... call/text 503-385-5586 if you're running late or would rather meet up with us on our way up!

COME TO THE SECOND GENERAL MEETING. This is a time when all the committees get to share what they've been doing and celebrate the awesome volunteers (you!) that make it all possible. FREE FOOD, FRIENDS, AND FUN.

Note that we will begin publicity for the blood drive BEFORE our next committee meeting, so look out for emails about sign-ups. We want to break even more records, so we'll need everyone to give it their all!

The ASUC Senate will be voting on the MSM bill next week. If the bill passes, the ASUC will take an official stance against this discriminatory FDA policy that places a lifetime ban on men who have or have had sex with other men from donating blood. If you support this and see our President, Michelle Carney, or our VP, Suraj Nagaraj, feel free to tell them that they are amazing and thank them for fighting for this cause. This is not affiliated with ARC or ARC @Cal, but it is something that many of our Executive Committee and members feel very strongly about, so these two are helping our voices be heard! Info about the bill: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ARCatCal/10151462107867185/

Berkeley Project is coming up! BP Day is October 26th, you must be able to commit 8am-4pm, although it rarely goes that late. Be sure to register by next Friday if you want to volunteer. If you want to be in a group with other ARC @Cal volunteers, be sure to select our group (there's like 5 that come up when you type "American Red Cross at Cal" but any of them should be fine). We may talk more about this at the general meeting! Blurb from BP site: "We're The Berkeley Project, and we aim to permanently change the relationship between the students and residents of Berkeley through hands-on community service." :') ALSO FREE SHIRT AND LOTS OF FOOD

Be sure to add us on FB if you haven't been added to the blood comm group yet! https://www.facebook.com/groups/531922040236007/

Good luck with all your midterms everyone! Stay healthy and sane! :)

Your favorite committee coords (we won't tell the others),

Karen Pan, Madhu Suresh, Alison Zhong
