Hi all,

A lot of you want to know more about the DSHR program:

Who we are
When a major disaster strikes an area, the local chapter rarely has enough trained personnel to provide adequate Red Cross response. The National Red Cross Disaster Services Human Resources (DSHR) program provides assistance by sending trained volunteers from chapters in other parts of the country to assist the local chapter.

Definition of the DSHR System
The DSHR System is the personnel and human resources management system used by the Red Cross to meet its human resources requirements in response to disaster. All Red Cross paid and volunteer staff who are qualified and available to be assigned to disaster relief operations are eligible to be enrolled.

In summary, this program allows the American Red Cross to organize, recruit and deploy trained and experienced relief workers anywhere within the United States of America and it's territories in order to support the local chapters disaster response.

I hope that clears things up for anyone who missed this during the meetings.

Again, if you're interested in the Santa Cruz training bootcamp (February 4th, 9 am - 5pm), email me asap (salman.qasim@berkeley.edu)
