Lines of Service
Name | Description | Contact |
Blood Services | This line of service mainly organizes and sponsors blood drives on UC Berkeley campus. Our volunteers can contribute through participating in canteening and taking registration at these drives. They are encouraged to attend our committee meetings regularly and a mandatory orientation. | Zaneta Chen (zaneta.chen@berkeley.edu) |
Health and Safety Services | Our line of service provides first aid and CPR certification and instructor training to members as well as non members. We also promote HIV/AIDS awareness to our peers through presentations, workshops and other advocacy events. | Milap Rakholia (mrakholia@berkeley.edu) |
International Services | The American Red Cross is part of a global community, and our International Services committee is dedicated to supporting these relations by raising funds and awareness for international causes. In previous semesters our committee has focused on activities such as the Measles Initiative, a worldwide effort to eradicate measles in Africa by fundraising to supply the much needed vaccination to the disease. | Michelle Carney (michelle.carney@berkeley.edu) |
Youth Services | The focus of Youth services is mainly outside of the university, taking us into the classrooms of elementary and high school students. There, we give presentations on disaster preparedness, general first aid, and other areas of safety that help instill safer behavior into the younger generations. It is extremely fun because the kids are very enthusiastic, and you truly feel like you are helping them out as they are following along. Duties include contacting schools, setting up appointments to have these presentations, practicing skits, and taking bimonthly or monthly trips to other schools to perform in front of a classroom of kids. Another goal we'd like to focus on this semester is being more involved with the ARC high school chapters. | Ellen Chung (echung777@gmail.com) |
Publicity | A fusion of publicity and fundraising, we hope to increase campus awareness of ARC @ Cal and our various activities, encourage volunteer involvement, and increase our club funds, in order to improve our club's efforts in serving the community @ Cal. | Sean Huynh (seanhuynh@berkeley.edu) |
