Blood Services

This line of service mainly organizes and sponsors blood drives on UC Berkeley campus. Our volunteers can contribute through participating in canteening and taking registration at these drives. They are encouraged to attend our committee meetings regularly and a mandatory orientation.
Prior to the date of the blood drive, we also set up tabling as fundraisers and advertisements. We are looking for dedicated volunteers who want to make a difference! One of our goals this semester is to have more donors, especially first time donors, give blood.

Health and Safety Services

Our line of service provides first aid and CPR certification and instructor training to members as well as non members. We also promote HIV/AIDS awareness to our peers through presentations, workshops and other advocacy events.

Duties of this line of service may include organizing first aid and CPR trainings on campus. Our goals for the semester is to train committee members to be HIV/AIDS educators, put on at least one HIV/AIDS awareness event, and have at least one first aid and CPR certification and instructor training class. We also deal with disaster preparedness training and will work on putting together a Disaster Services response team for disaster response all over the country.

Awareness & Fundraising Services

The American Red Cross is part of a global community, and our Awareness & Fundraising committee is dedicated to supporting these relations by raising funds and awareness for international causes here on the Cal campus. In previous semesters our committee has focused on activities such as the Measles Initiative, a worldwide effort to eradicate measles in Africa by fundraising to supply the much needed vaccination to the disease, Japan Relief and Haiti Relief, and many more! We also put on International Humanitarian Law Seminars, offered once a semester by the ARC Bay Area as a nationally taught course, here on the Cal campus.
While also continuing with past campaigns, this semester we will be launching a new project within our committee aimed towards raising funds for international charities and needs through local volunteer work done by our members. By recruiting sponsors for our volunteers, each hour of volunteer work done will raise money towards an international cause. Our committee is always open to suggestions and ideas, so come join us and help make this semester successful!

Youth Services

The focus of Youth services is mainly outside of the university, taking us into the classrooms of elementary and high school students. There, we give presentations on disaster preparedness, general first aid, and other areas of safety that help instill safer behavior into the younger generations. It is extremely fun because the kids are very enthusiastic, and you truly feel like you are helping them out as they are following along. Duties include contacting schools, setting up appointments to have these presentations, practicing skits, and taking bimonthly or monthly trips to other schools to perform in front of a classroom of kids. Another goal we'd like to focus on this semester is being more involved with the ARC high school chapters.

Disaster

The committee dedicated to keeping you and your peers prepared in the event of a disaster. Earthquakes, fires, zombie apocalypses - we train you to respond, as well training you to train others. Our focus is both hands-on response training as well as media propagation of our message. To that end we will be teaching courses and taking advantage of social media and a whole host of other methods to keep people safe in the event of a disaster.
